A woman who took a United flight from Huntsville to Houston on a Wednesday evening in June discovered that she was the only passenger on the regional jet. She later shared a photo of the empty aircraft on Reddit under the username u/Sufficient_Fudge_280, describing her experience with the pilot as enjoyable and humorous.

Because there was only one passenger, she received personalized announcements before the flight. The flight attendant conducted the full safety demonstration for her alone while maintaining a lighthearted tone. Before the plane took off, the crew brought in sandbags. She mentioned that this was necessary since the plane was too light with just one person onboard. While this is a common procedure for small regional jets, the reason for the sandbags is to help keep the plane’s center of gravity stable when there are not many passengers.

After they landed and taxied to the gate, the captain invited her to visit the flight deck and sit in the pilot’s seat. She noted that the crew was friendly, and the entire experience was amusing and joyful. Reactions on Reddit were mostly positive, with one user referring to it as a “poor man’s private jet.” Another commenter joked about feeling confused at the gate due to the absence of other passengers. A third person added humor by noting that she still had to check her bag at the gate because there wasn’t enough space in the overhead bins.
