A video has gone viral showing a group of high school students in Georgia pulling off a memorable prank on their principal. Bobby Davis, the principal at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, was in his office when someone rushed in to say there was a fight in the cafeteria. Concerned, Davis quickly went to check it out. When he arrived, he saw a circle of students recording a fight between two classmates. He made his way through the crowd and grabbed a student known for having a history of fighting.
As captured in the video, the crowd’s tension turned into cheers as they shouted “Happy Birthday!” It was actually Davis’ birthday, and the student he apprehended had planned the surprise. Emotions ran high as Davis celebrated, appearing joyful. De’Zayviun Watkins, a 17-year-old student, later shared that Davis had a positive influence on his life. Watkins had struggled with anger issues and found guidance from Davis, who is also involved with the football team. This mentorship helped Watkins rethink his life and develop empathy for others.

Watkins has transformed during his time at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, becoming a poet, music composer, and aspiring auto mechanic. With his time in high school coming to an end, he wanted to make a special memory for his mentor. Davis emphasized that students can tell when adults in authority do not care about them. He noted that providing a supportive environment is essential for learning, stating that students need to feel loved and respected to thrive in school.
While Watkins referred to himself as a “bad kid,” Davis disagreed, calling him “a great kid.” In a comment on the viral video, Watkins expressed his gratitude, stating that Davis had changed him for the better and that he values this transformation.
