You find the job of your dreams, send in your application, succeed in the interviews, and sign a contract. Then, it’s time to celebrate because it feels perfect. But then you meet Sally, who works in the cubicle next to you. She eats a whole chicken every day, sports bright yellow bunny ears, and has a pet rock that she consults whenever she’s under pressure. You might think to yourself that this isn’t what you expected as you see her drinking matcha from a toddler’s sippy cup. Work can already be pretty hectic without the odd behavior of some coworkers. You can either tolerate their quirks or take a cathartic approach by writing about your unusual experiences. Over 1,000 people chose to share their tales when someone asked about the weirdest coworker they’ve had. Bored Panda compiled a list of some of the funniest and most shocking responses. Some will make you laugh, while others could make you cringe, and a few might even change your view on Sally.

One person recalled a coworker who had no personal items at his desk, like photos or knickknacks. He never wore a coat and would run to his car when it was freezing outside. His reason was that if he ever quit suddenly or was laid off, he could simply walk out the door to his car.

Another individual talked about a 35-year-old woman who had just moved out of her parents’ house, but only down the street. Her mother still prepared her lunch every day, and her father was a police officer. This woman wore rainbow unicorn leggings designed for children on casual Fridays and once told her colleague that it was brave to wear blue and black together.

One former coworker had a unique diet consisting only of baked potatoes that he kept in his trench coat pocket. He used them as hand warmers in winter and would eat them like an apple at lunchtime.

Another memory involved a colleague who cycled to work and would change clothes under his desk. On birthdays, he would sing a birthday song while performing a German dance. If he liked the person, he would put on his lederhosen.

In a different office, a woman learned about her grandmother’s passing. While others offered condolences, a younger male coworker asked her what would happen to her grandmother’s mattress.

One person recounted their first day at the office when a man who looked homeless ran past, jumped, slapped a road sign, and then disappeared into the crowd. Later, they found out he was actually a new attorney in the office, wearing his train riding clothes.

Another colleague had a quirky rule: if you wanted to discuss your project with him, you had to pay a cookie tax. To get projects done on time, one person kept a pack of Oreos at their desk.

Tony, known as Elvis, came to work dressed as Elvis Presley every day. He acted completely normally, but his outfit often made people look around, wondering if they were on a hidden camera show.

Lastly, someone described a quiet coworker at their clinic who would unexpectedly appear close to you, often giving a slight smirk before continuing her tasks. Although she had no specific job title, her presence was constant, and everyone recognized her.

What unusual coworkers have you encountered in your work life?
