Digi used to roam the streets of my home country where I found her as a stray. This precious kitty captured my heart when I started feeding her. She went through so much; she became a mom twice, but sadly, both times, she lost all her kittens. It broke my heart to see her struggling, so before I moved abroad, I made sure to have her spayed so she wouldn’t suffer anymore.

When I moved, I didn’t stop thinking about Digi. I wanted the best for her! One day, my sister sent me a message that turned my world upside down. She told me Digi had come into the garage all hurt and with a horrible open wound. I was terrified! My sister took her to the vet, and they helped her heal. While she was recovering, my sister took care of her, but we both knew we couldn’t adopt her ourselves. We already had three senior dogs that required a lot of attention and a very territorial cat.

Our hearts ached for Digi, so we decided to do everything we could to find her a loving family. We reached out on several Facebook groups and cat subreddits, hoping someone would step up and give her the chance she deserved. But it felt like we were shouting into the void. Meanwhile, I kept scrolling through posts where beautiful, fancy cats were being adopted within hours! It’s so frustrating to see people fighting over these cats while Digi just waits, day after day, without a glimpse of hope.

This just doesn’t seem fair! Digi is a cat too! She has such a sweet personality, maybe even sweeter than those fancy ones. Why can’t people see that she deserves love just like any other cat? Every time we posted about her, it felt like a little piece of my heart was breaking. It hurt to see her getting passed over time and time again. She is so full of love to give, yet nobody seems to want to take a chance on her.

The emotional toll has been overwhelming. It’s disheartening to think about all the times Digi was overlooked. My sister would send me updates about how sweet and playful Digi was, and I just wished someone would see what we saw. To us, she’s not just a cat without a breed; she’s a little soul who deserves a warm bed and endless cuddles.

Eventually, I reached out to some friends, asking them to share Digi’s story. I thought maybe, just maybe, someone out there would feel the connection we did. Every share felt like a spark of hope, but the days turned into weeks, and the weeks began to drag on. We were losing hope, and it was tearing us apart inside.

Just when I thought we wouldn’t find a home for her, I got a message from someone interested in adopting Digi! My heart raced with excitement, and I could hardly breathe. Could this finally be the moment we’d been waiting for? I shared all the beautiful things about her—the way she loves to cuddle, how she purrs the moment you pet her, and how she would fit perfectly into someone’s family.

But then, I found out why. The person didn’t want Digi because she wasn’t a purebred. I felt like I had been punched in the gut. How could they miss the beauty of this sweet girl just because of her breed? It seemed so unfair, and it broke my heart all over again.

But I refuse to give up! I believe that somewhere out there is a person who will see Digi for the loving cat she truly is. As I share her story, I want everyone to remember that love shouldn’t be based on appearances. It’s what’s inside that counts.
