Artemis was about to celebrate her seventh birthday later this month. She was a very gentle cat who enjoyed lying on her owner’s chest and kneading her shoulder while she slept. Artemis had a fondness for her meals, loved chasing a laser pointer, and adored snuggling. She was sociable and would happily greet people she didn’t know. She had a special bond with her bunny friends and her younger cat, Kia, who had come off the streets as a tiny six-week-old kitten. Sadly, Artemis had been battling lymphoma for several months, and a few weeks ago, her care shifted to palliative treatment. This care continued until the medication no longer worked. The cancer spread to her lungs, making it increasingly difficult for her to breathe. Ultimately, the decision was made to help her pass peacefully to end her suffering. Despite knowing it was the right choice, there are feelings of guilt and a deep sense of loss. Artemis is greatly missed. What are your thoughts on dealing with pet loss?
