A store in Stockholm offers discounts for those with bad breath. Customers can receive free items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and flossers if their breath is notably unpleasant. The Humble Co., a Swedish oral care brand, launched this initiative after a survey showed that one-third of people experience bad breath at least once a week. Additionally, half of those surveyed reported they had avoided telling someone about their bad breath. To address this issue, The Humble Co. opened the Breath Boutique in the Hornstull area. According to Martin Noreby and Simon Lublin, creative directors for the project, poor oral care often leads to bad breath, and their campaign aims to change that by allowing people to “pay” for better oral hygiene with their breath. Visitors to the Breath Boutique can use a handheld device to check the sulfur levels in their breath, rated on a scale of 1 to 4. If their breath is deemed sufficiently bad, it can be used as payment for the company’s oral care products. Louise Lehmann, the Marketing Manager at The Humble Co., explained that their goal is to reduce the awkwardness surrounding bad breath, challenge social taboos, and encourage individuals to improve their oral health.
