The person reported getting a vet appointment in two and a half hours and has a friend to drive them and help with the transport case. Their cat, Memo, was jumping in and out of the litter box, trying to relieve himself while meowing and appearing confused. However, he seemed healthy, playing on his own. The owner mentioned that cats often hide their discomfort and expressed hope that the vet could determine the issue. They also shared feelings of fear, stating that Memo meant a lot to them.
In an update, the owner revealed that after checking the litter box, they found Memo peeing in the sink. They had closed the toilet lid to clean it before he used it. The owner noticed that Memo’s urine looked a bit bloody and initially thought it was their own menstrual blood. They realized Memo was struggling to find a comfortable place to urinate. Despite this, he was still playful, chasing a fly. The owner planned to call the vet immediately, recognizing the seriousness of urinary blockages.
The owner described how Memo had unexpectedly used the toilet for the first time. They had not trained him to do this, as he always used his litter box before. On the day it happened, a favorite care worker had come to help, and they both found Memo sitting on the edge of the open toilet, focused as if he was in a trance. They were both surprised and felt it was a remarkable moment. The owner decided to reward Memo with a treat after he finished his business, and he seemed unfazed by the whole experience.
They clarified that the litter box was not dirty and was usually cleaned daily. The cat had a clean bill of health from a recent vet checkup and was known to be intelligent, able to do tricks like giving paw and high five. The owner expressed curiosity about this unusual behavior and would not mind if Memo continued to use the toilet. They mentioned that others might find it strange, but they appreciated having a witness to the event.
