Polly and Nacho, two blind cats rescued from the streets of Beirut, Lebanon, ended up on a remarkable journey that took them to Tabby’s Place, a cat sanctuary in New Jersey. Both cats traveled long distances and, against the odds, found the same forever family. Interestingly, Nacho was adopted exactly one year after Polly, leading to a shared “Gotcha Day” for the two cats.
Polly’s rescue came first. She was taken off the streets by Animals Lebanon, an organization that helps improve animal welfare in the country. Polly was blind, scared, and tested positive for FIV. After facing many challenges, she was brought to Tabby’s Place, which specializes in caring for cats with serious health and behavioral issues.

A year later, Nacho joined Polly at the sanctuary. Today, both cats are happily living together. Tabby’s Place, founded by Jonathan Rosenberg in memory of his cat Tabby, focuses on helping cats who might be overlooked due to age, health, or temperament. The sanctuary offers veterinary care, along with the time and attention some cats need before they can be adopted.
The blind cats enjoy life together in New Jersey, whether they are exploring or relaxing. For Polly, it took nearly two years to feel safe after being rescued. She transformed from a frightened cat into a loving companion thanks to the patience of her new family. Ronda, Polly’s adopter, has found that their bond has grown stronger over time.
Nacho, who was also rescued by Animals Lebanon, traveled to Tabby’s Place after losing his sight. His story also found a happy ending. Now, Polly and Nacho support each other in their new lives.
What do you think about Polly and Nacho’s journey to finding a forever home?
