Dog owners often have amusing stories about their pets, like the one who steals socks or the dog that takes up the whole couch. Photographer Vicky Champagne gathers these tales and gives a voice to the dogs. Her project, Who’s Your Doggy, combines dog portraits with short stories written from the dogs’ perspectives, based on the insights shared by their families about their personalities and quirks. This work started two years ago and has expanded significantly, with Volume 3 now available, showcasing over 120 dogs and helping to raise money for the Humane Society.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Vicky shared that her initial goal was simply to photograph dogs and share their stories while supporting a good cause. Now, with three volumes and more than 120 dogs featured, it has become an ongoing project she intends to continue for many years. Vicky enjoys getting to know each dog, explaining that she loves to learn about their unique traits and the positive effects they have on their families. She believes that turning these details into dog-narrated stories allows people to appreciate their pets and the special bonds they share in a new way.

The project has also created a strong community among the participating dogs and their families, with each volume featuring about 40 dogs who all share a common love for their pets. Vicky noted that her perspective on her work has changed; it’s not just about the photographs but also about the relationships and memories tied to them. Volume 3 of Who’s Your Doggy is now on Amazon, and a book reveal event is planned for November 14. Bookings for Volume 4 are already open, with continued support for the Humane Society being a key focus of the project.
