In March, Chantal Rochelle, known on social media as @chantalrochelle, shared her experience on a flight with her small Maltipoo named Capri. She reported that the woman sitting next to her did not want to stay in that seat. According to Rochelle’s post on Threads, the passenger did not provide a reason but requested the flight attendant to move her to a different seat. The attendant responded that she would be right back and then left.
After a few minutes, the attendant returned and moved Rochelle and her dog to first class. Rochelle noted that the passenger’s reaction was quite surprising.
Reactions to the post were mixed. Some commenters viewed the passenger as acting entitled, questioning why she would request an upgrade when she already had a seat. Meanwhile, others suggested a more reasonable approach would have been to request to change seats instead of seeking an upgrade, especially if they had allergies to animals. Asking to be seated away from a pet is a common request for many passengers. The different reactions highlighted how unusual it was to ask for a first-class upgrade in this situation.
