Christina Applegate recently revealed that she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) for six years. This announcement has sparked various theories online. Following her emotional disclosure, some social media users began speculating about the reasons behind her health issues. One user suggested that using unnatural substances could lead to health problems and trigger immune responses.
After Christina’s revelation, many fans took to social media, particularly X, to discuss her situation and connect it to other women with significant health challenges. One prominent theory involves Breast Implant Illness (BII). A widely shared post noted that Christina Applegate, Selma Blair, and Yolanda Hadid have faced severe illnesses and share a history of breast implants, which are said to have a lifespan of about ten years. The post claimed that silicone leaks could mimic or trigger neurological conditions like MS or fibromyalgia.

Yolanda Hadid underwent explantation surgery after a ruptured implant, which she believed worsened her chronic Lyme disease. However, Selma Blair has not had breast implants and has openly lived with a confirmed MS diagnosis for years. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has acknowledged that many patients report symptoms they attribute to implants, prompting the agency to require cautionary labeling.
In addition to theories about BII, some individuals suggested that Christina’s long-term vegan diet contributed to her health decline. One commentator argued that her diet lacks saturated fats, which they claimed are essential for healthy nerves. However, nutritional science indicates that plant-based foods can contain varying levels of saturated fats, and the body can produce necessary lipids through other means.
Some discussions even included a theory linking Christina’s health issues to Long COVID. It is possible that routine blood tests during her initial evaluation could have detected a vitamin B12 deficiency. A few individuals identifying as members of the medical community criticized other doctors while discussing the implications of breast implants on health.
