As winter approaches, many people start to think about pulling out their old winter coats from storage. Comedian Alice Etches recently shared a video that highlights the fun surprises that can be found in those coats. Since she posted it on social media, the video has gained over 6.4 million views.
In the clip, Etches puts on her coat for the first time since last winter and discovers several forgotten items in the pockets. She starts by finding common things like an old lip balm, some tissues, and a used train ticket from a memorable weekend. Then, she finds some more unusual items, such as a whisk, a TV remote, and a pear, which surprises her.

Etches continues the comedy by pulling out an unopened DVD box set and a string of Christmas lights, handing them off to an imaginary person offscreen to keep searching. Her final discovery is quite unexpected. As she reaches into the pocket, she describes the object as soft but sharp before revealing a black cat. Astonished, she realizes it is her cat, Buttons, and expresses her surprise at finding her after thinking she was lost.
In the comments, many viewers shared their own stories about forgotten items found in their winter coat pockets. Some mentioned discovering faded receipts, old dog bags, and even a fork. Others noted finding items like ancient chewing gum, cough sweets, and cash, along with favorite earrings and transportation cards. Etches has more comedic skits that showcase her ability to find humor in everyday situations, featuring characters like “Lady at the Farmer’s Market” and a person who struggles around children.
Viewers are encouraged to follow her for more laughs and maybe check their own coat pockets for surprises. What unusual items have you found in your winter coat?
