Dogs often don’t communicate like humans do. They chase their tails, greet their owners as if a long time has passed, and somehow look sorry before anyone notices a chewed shoe. In the comic series Doggonit, artist Anthony Smith gives dogs a chance to express themselves through a small yellow dog who has a big personality and thoughts on many topics. What seems like an easy game of fetch can lead to serious discussions, a simple handshake may require negotiation, and the ongoing conflicts between dogs, cats, and their owners provide plenty of funny moments.
Smith has been developing his comic skills for many years. He began drawing cartoons for his local newspaper at the age of 15, then worked for Marvel UK, and later spent years as a writer and art director in advertising agencies in London, including J. Walter Thompson. Ultimately, he returned to cartooning. His comic strip, Learn to Speak Cat, which focuses on cat behavior, appeared daily in the UK’s Metro newspaper for five years, and his work is frequently featured in the satirical magazine Private Eye. Currently, Doggonit runs daily on GoComics, sharing space with his cat-themed comic, Cattitude.

Doggonit has previously been highlighted on Bored Panda, and the yellow dog is back with new comics that capture innocence, humor, and relatable concerns. Take a look at these comics to see the world from a dog’s perspective and let us know which ones made you laugh the most.
