After Megan Fox received backlash for her appearance in an old interview, Cameron Diaz has come under scrutiny regarding her looks as well. A past comment from Diaz about aging and Botox has resurfaced, prompting discussions about her views on cosmetic procedures. While some people think Diaz has remained true to her earlier statements, others doubt that she has. One individual remarked that it seemed Diaz did not follow her own advice.
In 2014, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight for her book The Body Book, Diaz, who was 41 at that time, mentioned that she had tried Botox but was not pleased with the outcome. She expressed that even a small amount altered her face in a strange way, leading her to decide against it. Diaz stated that she preferred to see her face age rather than have one that didn’t look like her own. She also mentioned that she was comfortable with the lines around her eyes, viewing them as signs of a life filled with joy.

Although Diaz shared her disinterest in Botox, she has never suggested that others should avoid cosmetic treatments. In a 2016 appearance on the OWN Show, while discussing her book The Longevity Book, she clarified that she has no judgment about what helps others feel good about themselves. She noted that such procedures exist to make people feel better, and if they achieve that goal, then they are effective.
Diaz added that Botox does not halt the natural aging process of the body. She explained that aging is cellular and affects areas that may not be reached by Botox. She encouraged focusing on health rather than relying solely on procedures to appear younger, emphasizing five key components of well-being: nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress relief, and meaningful relationships, suggesting these should be prioritized alongside any cosmetic work.
Aside from cosmetic topics, Diaz has also discussed her struggles with adult acne and its impact on her self-confidence. In The Body Book, she explained that she tried various methods to clear her skin but could not find a lasting solution. She wrote about feeling embarrassed and attempting to cover up the acne with makeup or treat it with different medications, including strong prescriptions, with little long-term success.
The actress acknowledged that dealing with her skin issues was particularly challenging when she had to appear on camera. She found it frustrating and felt bad about herself during those times. Diaz also reflected on her eating habits before making changes to her lifestyle, recalling that she would indulge in two bean burritos with extra cheese and a large soda. She later addressed the societal pressures women face regarding their appearance.
What do you think about the scrutiny surrounding Diaz’s comments on aging and cosmetic procedures?
