Teachers Maren and David Douglass from Florida gained attention for their thoughtful kindness towards a young girl who waits for her bus at the end of their driveway. According to People magazine, the couple noticed her sitting on the ground through their security camera. Since there was no sidewalk for her safety, they decided to put a bench there for her use. The girl was thrilled when she spotted the bench for the first time, jumping up in happiness. Maren mentioned that her joyful reaction was incredibly sweet.
Later, the girl expressed her gratitude in a note, stating that she appreciated the bench because it kept her from sitting in dirt and dealing with bugs. She thanked the couple wholeheartedly. Inspired by their act of kindness, the Douglasses sought to spread even more joy by setting up a Mini Free Library next to the bench, filled with books for her to enjoy. Since then, other children in the neighborhood have borrowed and returned books from the library. The thankful student even left flowers for Maren.
