Last night, the author had different plans for Halloween that did not work out. Instead, they decided to visit a local indie bookstore that was decorated for the holiday to buy a book, which they enjoy. While walking there, they found a part of town that was fully decorated for Halloween, with many houses giving out candy. At first, the author hesitated to go trick-or-treating, wanting to leave candy for the children. However, at one house, the owner complimented their costume and offered them candy, saying that trick-or-treating is for all ages.
Feeling encouraged, the author then approached other houses, politely asking for candy. To their surprise, everyone continued to give them candy. The author remembered that Halloween is mainly a holiday for kids and tried to let the children go first for candy. However, the children were also kind, insisting that the author could take some since they arrived first. The only negative reaction they received was from an older woman who glared at them while they took a piece of candy. Overall, the night was enjoyable, and the author felt very happy.
