Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Hospitalized for ‘Medical Emergency’

Ian Gillan, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is recovering after being admitted to the hospital due to a medical emergency over the weekend. His band, Deep Purple, announced on Instagram that they were unable to perform at QI Arena and Sporthalle in Germany while he was receiving treatment. They expressed understanding that this news might come as a disappointment to fans and confirmed efforts to reschedule the missed shows in Leipzig and Hamburg. They also assured ticket holders that their tickets would remain valid for the new dates.

Gillan later provided an update about his condition, explaining that he experienced a health issue in Leipzig that demanded urgent hospital care. He mentioned he had hoped to continue the tour but recognized the serious risks associated with doing so. On advice from his medical team and management, he decided to postpone the remainder of the European and UK tour until further notice, adding that he regretted any inconvenience this might cause but emphasized it was for everyone’s safety.

Fans of the singer quickly expressed support for him during this time. Gillan, who has faced health challenges in the past, including issues with his vision, has shared that he can see only 30% and does not expect his eyesight to improve. Despite these challenges, he had spoken in June 2026 about his desire to continue touring as long as he was able.

Gillan has not provided additional details concerning his recent medical emergency.
