A man lost his wedding ring while on vacation in Italy, leading to a remarkable tale of kindness inspired by The Lord of the Rings. While playing in a mountain stream with his family, one of his children accidentally made Patrick Mohr’s 18-karat wedding band slip off and float away. Mohr felt helpless as he realized the ring, which held many memories from his 16 years of marriage, was gone. After discussing the situation with his wife, they decided what to do next. Mohr was inclined to feel sad, but his wife took action and approached nearby strangers for assistance.
She met three young men named Filippo Palagi, Nicola Malloggi, and Edoardo Poggi. Initially, they were doubtful about finding the ring and didn’t have any swimming goggles for searching. Despite this, they promised Mohr and his family that they would look for the ring, just like Frodo Baggins and his companions from the story. They began their search using kayaks but had no success for two days. Instead of giving up, they tied themselves to boulders on the third day and searched a fast-flowing area with snorkeling gear. Malloggi spotted something shiny in the sand and, feeling a rush of excitement, pulled up the golden ring.

Meanwhile, Mohr was enjoying dinner with his family in Tuscany when he received a text from a number he didn’t recognize. The message included a photo of the ring with a playful caption. Shocked, Mohr showed the news to his family, which led to a lively reaction.
Instead of rushing back to give him the ring in Italy, the three young men decided to deliver it in person to Ireland so that Mohr could finish his vacation. They took a quick flight and arrived at Mohr’s home, where they were welcomed warmly, dressed as hobbits, and singing songs from The Lord of the Rings.
Mohr and his family took the three young men on a tour of Glendalough, which includes a historic abbey and beautiful lake, and enjoyed some of the scenic views in the Wicklow Mountains. They shared a round of Guinness at a local pub and had a traditional Irish dinner, forming a bond of friendship. One of the young men expressed his amazement at the entire experience, and Mohr highlighted the importance of reaching out for help.
