A few weeks ago, advice was sought on how to make a hospice cat’s life more comfortable after he was abandoned at a shelter due to age and medical needs. The subreddit provided many helpful suggestions. One notable recommendation was baby food, which helped the cat, Chauncey, who struggled to eat solid food. After trying different types, basic chicken and chicken gravy baby food was found to be the most suitable. Recently, he had difficulty keeping anything down, but he managed to eat the baby food.
Another helpful suggestion was the use of heating pads and self-warming cat beds. Chauncey had a tumor on his leg and didn’t want to walk much, so pads and beds were placed in various rooms to keep him comfortable. He even had a special spot with a heating pad above a gaming setup, where he enjoyed watching.

Pain relief was provided by a vet, and an herbal/CBD oil mixed with the baby food helped keep him comfortable. Unfortunately, it was later decided with the vet that his quality of life was declining. He began vomiting and showed signs of pain, and a tumor on his face opened and leaked fluid.
Although there was a desire to give Chauncey many more years, the suggestions from the community allowed for two good months filled with baby food, cozy beds, and plenty of snuggles. For anyone with senior cats, these ideas are highly recommended for enhancing their lives.
