A barbecue lunch for 27 disabled residents and staff from a community center in Incheon, South Korea, was unexpectedly covered by a stranger. The group, from the Jemulpo-gu Hanmaum Community Welfare Center, had spent a joyful morning visiting local attractions like Cheongna Lake Park. When they arrived at a BBQ restaurant in the Seohae district for lunch, they were in high spirits.
According to the Yonhap News Agency, when it was time to pay, the group learned that an unidentified diner had added over $100 worth of premium beef to their order. This brought their total bill to 600,000 Korean won, or about $420. The generous individual paid for the entire amount and left without revealing their identity. A volunteer mentioned that the stranger wanted to do something meaningful after noticing the group dining together and that they had been living in Hawaii.

However, a follow-up by Yonhap revealed that the restaurant owner had seen the mystery diner there on several occasions, raising some doubt about whether the person was actually from the United States. Although the volunteers could not thank the stranger directly, the restaurant owner recognized the act of kindness in time to offer the diner a bottle of wine as a token of appreciation, having already discounted the group’s bill.
The volunteer described the day as unforgettable and expressed that seeing someone perform a good deed for others they did not know was a unique experience. The meal served as a reminder of the many kind-hearted people in the world.
